Michael Schenker

Michael Schenker
Left: Schenker. Right: Pete Way

Michael Schenker is one of my favorite guitar players.  He has one of the most original sounds to his playing, and his solos are just beyond anyone's belief.  He is able to be precise, but at the same time he can be more emotional than just about any other guitarist.  Michael has been influential to so many guitarists; people include Randy Rhoads, Mike McCready, Adrian Smith, Vinnie Moore, etc.  he has definetely influenced the way I play guitar too, and I spend more time playing songs by him than anyone else.

Michael has been part of many different bands.  He was in Scorpions with his brother Rudolph for a brief amount of time.  He was in UFO for multiple occasions, and he is my favorite of all the guitarists in the band.  He has also been in his solo bands, The Michael Schenker Group, and McCauley Schenker Group.  All of these bands are very good, and all of them should be checked out

Even though Michael Schenker is not in UFO anymore, I think it would be wrong to no have an article about him.  He will always be one of my favorite guitarists. His guitar work in songs like "Love To Love," and "Lookin' Out For No. 1" is some of my favorite guitar work of all time, and he always gives his best on his playing.

  1. no comments! Schenker is a guitar god. Yeah some of his albums haven't been
consistent but never BAD. His earliest work is his best but all his albums have
brilliant songs and guitar work even when the vocalist aren't that good. I have seen
him several times but only once with UFO in the Warehouse in New Orleans. I saw
Chapman many times and he was always great. I saw Schenker on his last few
tours and I was blown away I think he plays better than ever. I like he sticks to his
original riffs and leads and doesn't go all over the place like some guitarist. His bands
haven't always been so great but it's him I go to see! I missed his last tour hope to
see him again. His last album Temple of Rock was pretty good too! check I out!

  2. Just went to see Michael in New Jersey's Starland Ballroom January 24, 2014. My daughter bought me the Meet & Greet ticket Package for Christmas. I never thought I would ever get to meet Michael, but indeed I did. The 40 year wait was worth every second. Drove 6 hours to be there. This man has not lost a beat!!! They played 2 Scorpions songs, 7 UFO songs. Simply amazing. I also got him to sign the cover of my Lonesome Crow Album. I could go on, but you know what I am talking about. I was 2 feet in front of him the entire show. Please, if you get a chance to see him (and they are supposed to be back in the states in the fall of 2014), don't miss it.

    1. Wow Stephen congrats on getting to see him. That must've been mind blowing. That's so cool that he signed your Lonesome Crow album, that is a fantastic Scorpions album. That's impressing that he did 7 UFO songs. Great that he still stays true to his roots. I'm glad you had a great experience seeing him.

  3. I have been a huge UFO/Schenker fan since 1974;when I first heard Phenomenon , his debut album with UFO. I have seen Michael with UFO several times, starting in 1976 on the No Heavy Petting tour. I also saw them on the Lights Out and Obsession tours in the 70's and Walk On Water tour in 95, and can honestly say I've never seen a better band than UFO with Michael Schenker. I saw UFO with Chapman from 79-82 and while they were good, they were not great. I also saw Michael with MSG from 80-84 and in 88-96, and I saw him last in 2012. If you want to see a legendary Rock guitarist , go see Michael Schenker thennext chance you get. You won't be disappointed. Rock Will Never Die!
