Why Didn't UFO Get More Radio AirPlay?

i really don't get why UFO wasn't on the radio more. They had everything that was needed to be popular.  Catchy riffs, great lyrics, fantastic vocals, and just awesome songs.  Songs like "Lonely Heart," "Lights Out," "We Belong To The Night," "Let It Rain," "Let It Roll," "Love To Love," etc should've been huge hits of their time, because they were higher quality pop-rock songs than a lot at the time.  Any ideas of why they weren't popular?

  1. Hmm, there's a lot of songs like that that should've been more recognized, but I think the fact that they didn't go mainstream might even give me a greater appreciation of them since they seem more personal. Idk haha, I believe that people make their own luck a lot of the time but in the case of what artists become sucessful, I think it's a lot about being in the right place at the right time.

    1. You known ours probably very right. And honestly it isn't terrible that they weren't on the radio because they have a very loyal fanbase.

  2. Back in the late 70s / early 80s, UFO got a lot of air play on major rock stations in the Chicago area where I lived. Songs like Too hot to handle, lights out , love to love and Only you can rock me were in heavy rotation. I'm sure it was like this in other major cities in the USA.
